On April 8, The city of Latamneh, in the Hama suburbs was attacked with phosphorous bombs and there were reports of napalm used in attacks in Latamneh, Maaret Harmah, and Bsams. On April 9, there were reports of phosphorus attacks in Saraqeb.  These incendiary weapons have caused horrific burns to patients, are difficult to treat and put a tremendous strain on the medical infrastructure.

Kathleen Rowan, CEO of UOSSM USA said, “It is outrageous that a five-day-old baby has died from exposure to a chemical agent after yet another attack that happened last week in Habeet, Idlib. This is just days after more than 100 people and children were killed and over 500 were injured after a chemical weapon attack in Khan Sheikhoun. Hospitals are still being bombed and internationally banned weapons are still being used. I call on the international community to demand that the use of chemical weapons and internationally banned weapons be stopped immediately.”

UOSSM USA is running an emergency fundraising campaign to provide immediate assistance for area hospitals and medical facilities to treat victims of attacks and to provide support and supplies. Mrs. Rowan added, “Please support our efforts on the ground in Syria, UOSSM works relentlessly to provide medical care, relief and support where others cannot. The support of UOSSM USA is desperately needed and greatly appreciated.“
