Coronavirus Imminent Threat in Syria

Unfortunately, COVID-19 has made its way into northern Syria. The spread of this virus is an imminent threat in Northern Syria, where the health care system has been decimated. The most advanced countries in the world, with complex medical systems in place, have fallen vulnerable to this devastating virus. Imagine the outcome in Syria if the virus spreads to crowded areas of displacement. There are over 4 million people, only 600 doctors, 201 ICU beds, and 95 ventilators (all currently in use). There is no option for social distancing in densely populated camps, no home to stay home in, no clean water and soap, and access to medical care is scarce, as the latest bombing campaign destroyed several medical facilities in the area.
